Community Action Suffolk has announced that from the end of July their ‘Home, But Not Alone’ phoneline service will no longer be operating to provide emergency food or medicine deliveries for the area.
We want to assure you that the Fressingfield COVID-19 Support Group is still very much in action, as it has been since the start of lockdown, ready to help with any requests for shopping, prescriptions or anything else. If you do not have your local volunteer’s contact details, please email Nigel Lucker on firstname.lastname@example.org, Stuart Balmer on email@example.com or call 07900 350117.
We will always be here for you.
The co-ordinators of the Covid-19 support scheme would like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to all our wonderful volunteers across our region, in particular, the 80+ volunteers in Fressingfield. We also say a thank you to all the businesses including the Shop, the Swan and the Fox and Goose. There are many more, so thank you all of you. As the restrictions are eased, the volunteers will still be here for you. If you need support please do reach out to them.
The requests for support are still coming in but are fewer and further between. Please everyone, do not feel shy about asking for help. You are being encouraged to stay at home and let the volunteers do your shopping and pick up prescriptions for you. We are not at the end of lockdown yet!
We have been advised by Community Action Suffolk that a leaflet will be coming through all our doors titled 'Home, but not alone'. This gives a contact number if you need a volunteer’s help. Any calls they receive will be directed back into the village for our support group to answer. This scheme will complement ours not override it. Please carry on calling the name and number on the leaflet you received from the parish council.
Stay safe and keep well!
This week has seen a further decrease in calls received looking for assistance. There have only been 11 calls to Fressingfield's support system during the week (down 4 from the last week). This means the support system is able to manage the requests. This is a good thing: it is far better to have low numbers than high. Shopping leads the trend in requests for help, as it has over the last four weeks.
All volunteers are well and no issues have been raised. Although all have not been called on, our thanks go out to all of the 60+ volunteers. Without them, the scheme could not be run. They are part of what David Cameron (remember him?) once called ‘the big society’ but we know as village life.
Fressingfield’s scheme has been registered as a volunteer group with Community Action Suffolk.
Thank you very much to the 70 volunteers who are now supporting the Fressingfield COVID-19 support scheme. Your response has been amazing! Around 20 volunteers have been allocated streets and the others are ‘in waiting’ to support them when they need it.
All homes in Fressingfield should now have received a leaflet with the name, phone number and email address of your neighbourhood volunteer. We have been advised to stay at home to stop this virus from spreading. Please allow your assigned volunteer to help you. Whether it is for shopping, prescriptions, just someone to talk to, please call them.
