Important changes to Suffolk's recycling
Make sure you're up to speed with some important changes to the way we recycle in Suffolk.
Over the coming months the Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) in Gt Blakenham, where recycling collected from Suffolk households is sorted, will be undergoing a major refurbishment. This work follows a new contract for the operation of Suffolk’s countywide network of 11 Recycling Centres and will result in a state-of-the-art facility for Suffolk, with the latest mechanical and optical sorting equipment.
How does this affect me?
We will be carrying out drainage improvement works along Laxfield Road, Fressingfield from Fressingfield Footpath 063 to White Post Corner. The works will involve improvements to the drainage system including a new catch pit and replacement of existing drainage pipe.
The work is planned to take place between 24 June and 6 July 2019, excluding weekends. Work on site will be carried out weekdays from around 7am until 4:30pm each day. The times and dates of works may change depending on the weather conditions. If they do change, we will let you know by updating the information signs on site.
Laxfield Road will be under 24-hour continuous closure for the duration of the works and will be closed to through traffic. Unfortunately the road is not wide enough to comply with safety regulations to maintain a safe passing distance for vehicles and a road closure is necessary.
Access to properties and businesses within the road closure will be available but controlled by staff on site. Please speak to one of our staff who will provide access as soon as it is safe to do so. Please be aware that the works will involve excavation in the middle of the road, access and exit will therefore be maintained from both or either end of the road closure. Staff on site will provide assistance and advice to residents in the immediate vicinity of the works. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience or disruption caused.
On street parking will be restricted to allow the works to be carried out unobstructed.
During the period of the closure, traffic will be diverted via: B1116, B1123, A144, B1117, B1116 and vice versa.
These temporary traffic management measures are required to allow the works to be carried out safely and accordance with current Health and Safety guidelines.
If you have any other questions about the work, please call us on 0345 606 6171.
